Every child has a right to an education. And every young person has a right to a fair chance – a chance to learn, to equip her or himself with the skills and training needed for the modern world. But it’s not always easy for everyone to enjoy these rights, or to access them.
Funds raised by 1 Run 1 Race will be used to fund a specifically designed Education Support Programme (ESP) run by Kopin and JRS that will help refugee and migrant children and youths gain better access to education and training.
The ESP offers a number of packages aimed at enabling individuals to access or continue primary education, secondary education or sixth form, to access Higher Educational institutions, or to improve their employability.
Funds will be used, amongst others, to fund:
Kopin envisions a global and inclusive society, where citizens are equally empowered to contribute to a world that is free of poverty and any other form of injustice. Amongst other projects, Kopin has for the last 9 years been supporting asylum seekers and refugees in Malta by providing language training, educational support, job training, healthcare access, information sessions and more.
JRS seeks to accompany, serve, and advocate the cause of refugees and other forcibly displaced people, that they may heal, learn and determine their own future. They run pastoral care and psychosocial support programmes in detention centres and refugee camps, and provide humanitarian relief in emergency displacement situations. Education and livelihoods programmes provide skill development and opportunities for integration into host communities.
